Here is a little peek into the year that was 2005. Hopefully it isn't way to bad. Here's to much more to add for 2006!!!

---REMOVED FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLARITY---

Well, since I got a few pics of the show in Novi, I figured I could post them up here. I apologize ahead of time if you wanted to see a lot of bikes. Will have to keep that in mind next year. HeHeHe!!! And Steven, next time put the bag down and we could actually see the bike you are checking out. Sorry, wish I would've caught that for you when I previewed the pic.

On a side note, anybody can see why I need a camera with a better zoom on it.

And after further review, I figured I would share the pics of a fellow member of the www.detroitsportbikes.com message board, Rimmy. Who's zoom I will always envy.

Here's looking forward to a great riding season. It won't come soon enough.

Saturday, January 14, 2006

Hey everyone. This past weekend finally gave us riders something to get excited about. It was the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show, down in Novi. You never need a good excuse to go look at some new bikes! The show was fun with a lot of nice bikes to check out, sit on and get a feel for. And also very important was the other eye candy, whether vendor models ,other guests to the show, or the stop at Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters before and after, there was plenty to look at.

My only disappointment was the absence of Triumph. I was really looking forward to really checking out two of their bikes; the Speed Triple and Daytona 675. I have fallen in love with the Daytona and really wanted to see how it fit me. It was just very disappointing.

Some even more exciting talk got going at B Dubs before the event. TRACK DAYS!!! Yes, the interest is growing and officially the first track day that DSB will be attending is at Grattan, hosted by
Sportbike Track Time, May 6-7. I am definitely going to do my best to make that party!

That being said, this is where the real world comes in. And here is where I keep my babydoll updated with everything I need for a track day. She can also see here my head is keeping the cost of all this in mind. So, well, here is the list. Time to start saving that $1.25 I spend for each Code Red I'm going to have to stop drinking to save some money.

xHonda CBR900RR shock with necessary mounts and brackets ($125)
from a poster on
Cycle Forums, Dragon, who has a freakin sweet Hawk of his own.

xClutch and Brake Wide-Blade Skull Levers ($40)

xPowdercoating ($40)

xSpeigler Custom Stainless Steel Brake Line ($75)

xEBC HH Sintered Brake Pads/Brake Fluid ($85)

xMotion Pro Throttle/Clutch cables ($40)

xEmgo Oil Filter/ 4 Qts. Castrol Actevo oil ($30)

Chain Roller ($60)

Factory Repair Manual ($30)

x520 Chain Conversion with 15/46 sprockets ($150)

xKBC VR-2 Mirage-Gunslinger helmet and shield ($250)

xHeld Ninja racing gloves in black ($100)

xSidi B-2 Boots in Black ($200)

xGalindo Bar-End Sliders in Black ($20)

Hi/Perform 4.5" Frame Sliders, black ($75)

Merino Wool Crew Top, Bottoms and Lightweight Socks ($90)

Up to this point, we have a amassed $1410 worth of parts and gear. Now here are some miscellaneous tools and such that would come in handy.

Spanner Wrench ($25.00)
Digital Tire Guage ($25.00)
Speed Bleeder ($15.00)
Cable Luber ($10.00)
Helmet Bag ($30.00)
Visor Sleeve ($10.00)
Michelin Pilot Powers ($225.00)

Now we have a total of $1750. Time to add on some fees and costs for the track day itself.

Sportbike Track Time Membership ($30.00)
Gate Fee ($5.00)
Track Day ($145.00)
Gas ($30.00)
Food ($30.00)

All for a grand total of $1990.

So there you have it. It might be a little unreasonable to hit a track day the first week of May. But, if I really think about it, I'm pretty sure I could make some compromises here, cut a few things there. You know, sacrifice. All I can say is wish me luck. Maybe between Uncle Sam and Ajax, we could do it. You never know.
